Ars magica 2 mistake?

I was starting up this mod and farmed alot of ars magica stuff, build my altar and nexus etc...Then i was to choose my spells...Projectile, Gravity and Bounce. Made a spell with all three....tries it out and no effect on anything, and no more talent points, no chance of leveling up.....so what do i do?

Summon ars magica 2 bosses then kill them for the infinity orb?
The orbs will give you points.
