Hello!

I'm having some issues with autocrafting and applied energistics. I just can't seem to autocraft cobble --> Smooth stone. I did this before I started using Unleashed, so I'm not sure what I did wrong this time.... Here are a few screen shots!

Thanks so much for the help!

I AM USING THE FTB-UNLEASHED MODPACK!

Ae does not auto-smealt your stuff, you need to use a me interface ontop of a furnace, then import from the furnace.

Ah...you need to put that pattern in an ME Interface block. That block should feed into a furnace-type machine, which is usually the top of the furnace for most furnace-type blocks. You will then need to connect an ME Import Bus (a Basic is more than adequate) to the output face of the furnace, which is usually the bottom face.

The pattern is red in your Assembler Chamber because it can't make it. It can only do "shaped" crafting where machines aren't involved, ex. no furnaces.

You can use IC2 Painters to paint buses, btw. Looks like you have trouble with that.

If you want smoothstone you probably need tons for building. You're better off installing a couple of Ignious Extruders and setting those to produce smoothstone. They require water and some lava but the lava won't be consumed if you produce smoothstone. A single Aquous Accumulator can supply 2 extruders with the water required.

I have 2 outputting to a single chest between them. The chest has a storage bus on top of it so the smoothstone is available for crafting without it clogging up my AE system.

This is how I do it as well, except I don't use a chest, I have the Smooth Stone set to go to a Deep Storage Unit connected to AE with a storage bus. Either way works :)

If you're running on steam, you can make a steam oven to process it in large batches. It's a little slower than say an induction furnace, but it makes good use of left-over steam you might not otherwise use.

Put an ME Interface block on top of an IC² electric furnace with an ejector upgrade. The furnace will eject the smoothstone upwards as soon as it finishes cooking, giving you a very compact smelting solution. My fully upgraded electric furnace cooks complicated recipes in a jiffy, since it doesn't have to wait for the import bus to pull before cooking the next item.

Another way of getting smooth stone passively is to Silk Touch your pickaxe(s). Tinker's Construct lets you enchant a Tinker's Construct pickaxe or hammer with 1 emerald, 4 gold nuggets, and 32 strings. From just normal mining/mineral hunting, you will be drowning in smooth stone.

I usually Silk Touch with the 1st or 2nd Emerald I get.

Can you stick silk touch on a hammer? If so, that's an even faster way to get smooth stone. I'm away from my computer at the moment or I'd check.

Yes ! Getting up to 9 smooth in 1 whack is great !

One of my favorite tools is a manyullyn hammer with electric, 100 applications of Redstone, and Silk Touch.

It's a lot faster if you don't actually have to mine it yourself.

I agree a fully upgraded (overclocked, uptransformed, well-powered) Electric Furnace or a sufficient number of parallel machines can churn out smooth stone at an absurdly high rate, but it's hard to beat a silk touched, fully redstoned hammer for simplicity. 9 smooth stone in 1 whack is nothing to sneeze at. You can get an inventory full of smooth stone in a few minutes.

I haven't actually mine manually since I started playing FTB...it would be nice using silk touch/fortune for diamonds/etc...but...automation is just so much easier and gives me more time to build :) lol
