theirs allot of mods out there that do power for are machines but none of them really are based on really word, yes i know its a game. but i can share my views

like build craft engines blowing up. that be scary if that happened in the real world if power generators are hooked to nothing drawing power to it then it blow up. i can see it now all across the globe explosions happening because some one left the generator running with nothing plugged into it

IC power is more accurate it to only generating power when power it is called for but i still have issues with there cables.

but on subject to how i like to see a power mod done

like in the real world there are power plants, lets take atomic science mod here as are options here

a player should be able to build there reactor of choice and not worry about needing to refuel it for a while one fuel supply can last many days in real life time, and not blowing up because well a nuclear or fission reactor has high tech stuff to keep that stuff from happening. but to the power part. the out put power should be HIGH voltage like in the 10,000 volts range. this allows the power to flow over large distance using smaller cable.

a player then can send these high voltage cable lines through out there town and just like in real life when theirs a section of 2-4 buildings they can place a transformer there to step the power down.

240 volts then can be ran to each building and at the point of building there needs to be an electrical fuse box. this fuse box can take breakers that will link to a machine in a set distance wireless, in a sense. i say in a sense because i like to also see a slot to feed in the electrical box a spot to add copper cabling the farther the machine is the more cables you will need (plus wire size gets involved to) so in a sense it is not wireless power since we need to supply the cables but this way we don't take up blocks in game running bulky power cables within are shops

ok thanks for reading, just my random thoughts how i like to see a power mod

With your note to the reactors, all the other internal modules and whatnot ARE the parts that keep it from blowing up. And those rods last a good while in minecraft time i believe.

Just sayin... Scale man. Scale.

Scale just for ref.

1 MC day is 8 minutes.

basically MC is 180th the scale of real life for time.

Though EU is similar to electricity, it does by no means function the same way. Infinite current may be passed through a cable at any point in time. There is no "ampere" limit on the cables, only voltage. This means that running parallel lines is not required. You may request infinite energy out of one line, as so long as the voltage matches and that the energy source is capable of outputting that much energy. In real life, in addition to a voltage limit, there are current limits on cables. This is to satisfy V = IR and other such equations relating to electromagnetism.

This is also why you see "bundles" of cables running through out our homes. It is also why adding concurrently running sockets to your home's circuitry may end up in the breaker being set off. There is no such thing in IC2.

Actually a line can burn out from both over-voltage and over-current. Trust me I work on overhead lines, this is why we size the lines according to voltage AND amperage. Since voltage and amperage are inversely proportional, meaning High Voltage lowers Amperage and Lower Volate raises Amperage.

This is why for a single 120v 50A single phase wire it has to be larger than a 120V 20A single phase wire. You are correct in the internal wiring section since you are "Narrow Back" Electrician. I still love you guys tho! We just love to poke fun at each other.

Trust me, I have seen some serious shit happen when amperage gets out of control and there is no fusing on the line to break it when it happens.

Worst I have seen is a huge fireball with me at the end of a 20 foot stick trying to break the load and the fuse not being a design that breaks the load, thereby causing a over-current situation due to added resistance from the gap created when I started to pull the fuse. Had to wait until the substation saw it and dropped the circuit, which seemed like forever but took maybe 2 seconds.

Best sun tan I ever had LOL

IC2's new (1.6 experimental) energy system is based on real life resistor networks.

Awesome from what I was reading about everyone complaining it makes sense now to me. HV into MV into LV into LV Machine or batbox, no more HV going into a batbox which is designed for LV.

I will probably be using this system extensively. Power plant producing HV into a MFSU feed down the line with Fibre cable into a MV Xfmer into a MFE and running down the line with Gold/copper into a LV Xfmer and bat box feeding my LV machines with copper cabling :D

A system that makes sense finally!
