Hi all. I have a 4k Storage Cell from Applied Energistics. It's full and I'd like to move the contents into a larger (16k) storage cell. I was under the impression I could upgrade the smaller cell into the larger one, but I can't figure out how.

I know you can shift-right click to seperate the data cluster from the housing, but it only works on a Storage Cell that is empty (ie, have no items).

Is there a way to upgrade the 4k straight to 16k, or do I need to simply create a spare 16k and manually move the items over by hand?

You can't do an in place upgrade of storage cells, you've got to move them over. It means that you'll need to make a new 16k cell, but the ME I/O port should easily handle the emptying/filling of cells.

Make new 16K cell, format it for the items you want on it, put it in your drive. Use IO port to extract everything off old cell. Now you can take apart the 4K cell and reuse the components to make a new larger cell. Unfortunately there is no way to do an in place upgrade of a cell with items stored on it.
