AE Crafting question!

Hi!
If you watch Direwolf20's videos you can se that he is able to craft using the Crafting monitor and just pressing the questionmark in NEI.. When I try, I only get the greyed out recepie. Whats wrong?

It also works on regular crafting tables and most other crafting devices

Well its using the api from NEI to allow it to do that.
But the mod thats actually doing it is AE.
