I didn't know it was even 1.10. I've been using Architecturecraft instead.
Triaxx makes a really good point - although its a bit more effort to begin with, ArchitectureCraft gives you the same level of flexibility that Carpenter's Blocks did, plus extras like cylinders, curved edges for some blocks, and so on. The only thing I'm not 100% on is the customisable doors - though when I was watching Krakaen's LP series of Beyond, he did something with a door that was actually more flexible than the Carpenter's options. I'd have a look into it - it might be just what you're after!

Carpenter's blocks have some other functionality beyond the shapes (and it does a lot more than wedges and whatnot. If you hold shift while scrolling, there's a bunch of shapes you can quickly and easily switch to and from).

It also has the ability to sprinkle a little glowstone dust to make it a light source. It can add additional layers of textures. It can fill in blank spaces with water if you place things like stairs and fences near water sources.

But the big thing for me with it was that you can just take a bunch of the blocks with you on a build and put the right shapes down as you go along. You don't have to permanently cut the blocks into the shapes you want before you build. You can experiment as you go.

I'm sure architecturecraft is vastly superior in many ways, but there's some benefit to kickin' it old school

No reason not to use both if you can find an option.

And Malisis Door's is probably the mod you were seeing. It's got some truly crazy cool doors. And the ability to make your own.
