Throughout my bee-breeding, I've noticed that all my bees, pure or hybrid, flyer or nocturnal, mundane or valiant, they all produce one princess bee.
And when I get an occasional hybrid princess bee, then it means one less princess in my collection at my disposal.

I've been just flying over my FTB world breaking hives with a scoop for new princesses to breed, and I'm pretty sure this isn't the most efficient method.

So the question is: How do I get new princess bees?

The hybrid princess can be reused. To purify it or change its species, you just need to re-breed with a stack of drones or (if you have the Extra Bees machines) inject it with a species serum. Hives are pretty much the only way to get completely new princesses though. With Extra Bees, you often wind up with lots of excess Rocky princesses if you do automated mining such as BC Quarries.

Note that I am ignoring the "swarmer" mechanic which can generate new princesses that will eventually die off since I've never found reason to play with those.

Exactly as intended. Welcome to the world of bees.

I made a stable flat plains age with mystcraft and run through there with a couple thaumium scoops. You can fill a page of an Apiarist backpack pretty quick like that. I chose plains because my breeding takes place in a plains and I wanted something that would work there easily. Another advantage with flat plains is that I don't need to do much dodging around trees. Make sure to reuse those hybrids too. I have found some interesting/unintended species that way.

One of the best ways is to is to collect all rocky bees from quarries, they I beleave are one if not the best to use as a base for other species as there inbuilt traits are very useful, flyer, nocturnal & even cave can be of use, the one down side is there they have only one offspring, this can be over come with ease, the other system I often use in to go to Twilight Forrest & collect all bees while exploring.
