4 chunk reset/regen

I have a 3 person server running off a Mac osx server using the ftb ultimate pack. While playing late last night there was a short lag spike and followed by 3 chunks being turned into water with strange dirt patterns and 1 chunk over 400 blocks away being reset to before it was built. Is this some sort of error in the server or a random event that can happen in the ftb pack? One of the chunks that was effected was my sorting facility. I'm not sure if this is a server issue because I host 2 other minecraft servers on the same platform and have never encountered something like this.

Here are some images, it does not look like chunk failure to me, they just seemed to have reset in the first picture and made new ones in the second?

yeah... no idea as to why it happened though.
