I'm running 6gigs of RAM (PAE-Enabled Kernel) on 32-bit Windows 7

Is there a reason that the FTB launcher only lets one use the game with 1GB of RAM?

It is to my understanding that processes on 32-bit (36-bit in this case) operating systems can use up to 4 gigs of RAM.

So... Is the limit placed there for people who don't understand this stuff, or will the game crash horribly, or is there a way that I can use more than a single gigabyte of RAM on this memory-hogging game of which I have more than enough memory for?

Eh, no.
I can run Java applications at 4 gigs of RAM, on a PAE-enabled system
I've run Tekkit with 2gigs max. (which is not a problem with me, since tekkit SMP would rarely need more than this). I've checked the task manager, I had minecraft running at 1.7gigs at one point...

Edit: Kind of frustrated
running an Nvidia GTX650, intel i7 2.67 8-core processor, 6 gigs of RAM, minecraft at 60fps on VSYNC, and I'm getting serious lag spikes
The lag spikes happen whenever the memory limit is reached.

Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Perhaps I can fix this on my own...

Solved
Running with 2gigs of RAM now, or maybe 1.5? hasn't gotten that far yet.
Sorry for the constant posting, but the edit main post feature seems to be broken.
