Open 1.4.0: Desert/Desert Hills Biome not appearing.

What is the bug:
For some reason, the sand of the desert i am in is not showing on the map or mini map. The village and the village walls how ever are, as are any other features. But sand, cactuses, and the like are all missing. Is there any way to fix this or is it a loading error?

Edit: Also Lava is the wrong color, and water is greyed out.

Update. So i deleted my first world, as i had only jsut created it, and then made a new one. Same issue. However after closing minecraft, an launching again, It suddenly fixed itself.
