I agree, but if you try to keep using the modular powersuits in general, you'll find they are broken. The table makes the game crash nearly everytime you change something and there are a lot of missing upgrades, like the solar hat and things like that. I would skip this mod because it's more than a little broken and seems out of date. The ender io armor is a slightly cheaper alternative, although it takes a lot of levels to get great upgrades.
The top is the Thermal Expansion recipe & the bottom is the vanilla recipe. If you really don't want the vanilla recipes, just delete the vanilla.recipes file from configs/machineuse/recipes.
I think MPS for 1.7.10 is still in alpha & not everything works right yet, but a lot of the upgrades, including all the power generation modules, were from a separate add-on mod. The 1 I miss most is the leaf-blower, it made getting through jungles so much easier.
