    I think I can answer my own question. Snooping around it seems to be a setting in gregtech.

    Question. Mining stone seems to be very very slow. I tried to mine with a stone and it takes 10 to 15 seconds, mining coal or iron is visibly much quicker. Is it normal ? Is this something to set in the config files ?
