    Easiest way to get sugar cane: Get 8 cobble, chisel and uncrafting table. Then u put 8 cobble into chisel, chisel out "Cobble Whitestone". Put that freshly chiseled cobble into uncrafting table.And then, BOOM, u get 1 sugar and your cobble back, then just put that one sugar into uncrafting...
