    I would highly suggest adding the mod CleanView to get rid of all the annoying particles from the Artifacts armor. I'm using it and it works great, and that way I don't have to disable particles to get rid of them. Link: http://www.curse.com/mc-mods/minecraft/226889-cleanview/2224179

    The growth spell works on sugarcane for me, but only in the sugarcane seeds from Agricraft in the crops, not on the vanilla sugarcane-next-to-water type.

    If you are using seeds and crops you can use a Growth Spell from Ars Magica, which can be acquired from a quest so you don't have to craft the spell yourself (if I recall correctly it requires 32-64 dirt blocks, and 32-64 bonemeal to complete the quest). It's basically instant growth for crops...

    A trick for chunkloading is to use the Poppet Shelf from Witchery. It will keep the chunk it is in loaded. While it's only one chunk, carefull placement can make it incredibly helpful.
