So im playing Direwolf20 and I am in need of a lacerator, however I can not find diamonds at all. i am branch mining at around Y=10 and I cant find anything! any others ways to get diamonds in the early game?

So I am trying to get some ore and diamond and I can't find any deep caves. The caves I do find end very early and I cant get any lava for a smeltary up and running and I cant find any diamonds. I am brnach mining at around 12 in the Y. But whats the best way to find some good caves!
