best ways to get started in a new world

My general plan is to punch some trees to get some wood. Build a crude shelter and storage. Look for coal make a few torches and survive the first night in the open field. Build a few forestry bags or canvas bags, a scoop or two, some shears and go exploring to gather some harvestables and bees...

    All enchantments on Zephyr (Thaumcraft)

You can't put Unbreaking on a sword in vanilla period as that is a tool enchantment. I think you can only get Repair on it since it is a Thaumcraft item. Smite, Bane, and Sharpness are also mutually exclusive as they are damage mods. Disjunction has no restriction the same with Vorpal. I have a...

    Oil Mystcraft Page

Agreed, I don't really like oceans of lava either but people already tap the Nether dry and the return rate on lava isn't that great. The worry is if Oil becomes so ridiculously easy to get then the length it powers might get reduced to try to balance that out. Railcraft and Thermal Expansion...

    Price of Chunkloaders/Forge Lexicon

I'm okay with the costs personally. The chunkloader is just enough cost to make me consider it early game if I need my base loaded right now or to use those same resources for something else. I recently made a Lexicon and can't recall it being that expensive either. After I have an igneous...

Easiest Way to Get Mystcraft Pages?

Heh imagine my surprise when I was hit and on fire. But i'll take that over being always on fire, or nauseous or slowed any day of the week. Yeah the new page mechanic makes random ages really great to get symbols now and you don't have to have 50 ages to get the symbols you want just a few...

    Oil Mystcraft Page

I would be ok with small pools of Oil kinda like the Lava pools we see in the Overworld, but a whole ocean of Oil is just too much and would kill balance.

Easiest Way to Get Mystcraft Pages?

To echo what is already said my first experience with the new Mystcraft was to create a random age. Once I got one that I could move around in I explored the area around spawn by about 300 blocks in each direction looking for an abandoned library. Finding one got me 7-12 pages. If the world is...

    We're to farm ender bees?

I did the same and pumped all of that into a carpenter for parts and have been massfabbing alvearies for all of my important products. If you really want to make some seed oil try get a Common Walnut tree or Chessnut. I now have more Seed Oil than I know what to do with.

    A Reason to hate Bee's and/or Pipes

Fastest is on the Aura Bee from Thaumic Bees. Also that bee has a larger Territory if you are interested in enlarging bees that have positive effects.

Infernal Furnace + Native Ore Clusters vs Pulverizer (FTB Ultimate)

To post on topic, I found what works best for me was to go both routes once I started using a heavily enchanted Pickaxe of the Core. TE handles my main automated mining operations. When I'm out and about exploring the Pickaxe of the Core is my main tool and when I mine resources with it I...

    We're to farm ender bees?

If you are looking for basic bee products Cultivated are the way to go with Honey Comb produced about 1 a minute give or take. If you are interested in alvearies at all you will want to work up the Industrious and Imperial lines which are both derived from Common and Cultivated branches. That's...

    A Reason to hate Bee's and/or Pipes

If you have any Industrial drones left from your last breedings you might be able to make a new princess with those.

    We're to farm ender bees?

I'm breeding Ender bees right now in a Meadows biome from ExtraBiomes. I tried breeding them in the End and they can't see the sky. From what I see they just need Normal or Cold Temp and Normal Humidity.

    Best Early Power Gen

A manual peat farm does just fine for me for my initial needs. Someone gave me the idea to use a wand of equivalent exchange to swap out Peat blocks with new bog earth to speed up the process. But that is a bit more mid game for me and I stop using peat at that point.

    Best Early Power Gen

another idea is that you could use Peat fired engines. You can make Peat in a carpenter or in a crafting bench with a bucket of water. Just lay the Bog Earth down on the ground and have a water source in a 1 block radius. Think doughnut shape with water in the middle. Over time the Bog Earth...

    We're to farm ender bees?

I was just in a Meadows biome from ExtraBiomes. Closest vanilla analog is a Plains biome. Ender bees require normal humidity and can survive in Cold and Normal temperatures. So Jungles, Deserts, and Swamps are out for sure as well as the Nether. Also the End won't work since they don't consider...

    We're to farm ender bees?

You can find Ender bees in the End in hives. I'm unsure if you can make an End in a mystraft world or not either by pages or using a stronghold. As for habitats they work fine in the overworld but require the Dragon Egg as a flower. I just picked some up last night and I'm building up a stack of...

    Bee breeding question

I see where I went wrong now. I failed to take into account Dominant and Recessive traits when a bee is created. When the mutation happened while trying to get my Heroic bee the calculations looked at the Valiant/Steadfast hybrid It brought over the Heroic stats and tested each one for...

    Bee breeding question

Are you 100% sure on this? When I was creating my Heroic bees my first mutation showed up and they didn't have the Heroic effect so I had to force another mutation. I have some other bees that I'm breeding tonight so I can test and confirm that if the mutation comes in on the recessive side you...

    Bee breeding question

Baw179, when you analyze a bee you will see that you have Active and Inactive traits. From the sounds of it the Active trait of one is Slow and the Inactive is Slowest. Or the other way around. At any rate, the parents produce the same bee every time. That is what we would call a stable strain...
