I'm putting my bet on thunder. I had the same thing happen in my base once, and I frantically ran around checking all of my engines and machines - but nothing had blown up. It didn't sound like normal thunder but I concluded that it must have been.

I feel like I just stumbled in on something I shouldn't have, like discovering your best friend's parents getting it on.

Hmm, that might be worth a shot I guess. I'd prefer to avoid loading more chunks as my laptop is struggling already, but if it solves the problem and frames are still OK I'll tick to that. Any other advice is welcome.

I've been having this problem in my base where nearby chunks aren't loading visibly, so they're just appearing as grey areas until I run into them, at which point the view loads instantly. Does anybody know what is causing this and how I can fix it? I haven't made any changes to the RAM...

From what you said I gather that your UU matter is going into your main Ender Chest. What happens to it then? Is it going back to the recycler? You probably need to follow a piece of cobble through the process and see where it gets stuck, then work it out from there.

This isn't true for barrels, at least I don't need to leave a space below them for golems to remove items from them. The arboretum did have this problem though. I ended up using a Clay Golem to simplify things (I didn't have space for a marker under the arboretum anyway), so I had to activate...

Oh awesome, thanks for clearing that up. I don't really need to consolidate my launchers as I'm only ever going to play one at a time and the .exes are both in the same place, so it's convenient enough as it is. But at least I know I can update MC without worrying. Thanks again :D

What do you mean by "it won't do anything"...it won't break FTB? Is there any reason I shouldn't be on the latest version of MC then? I don't really need multiple instances of Minecraft so I don't think I'll bother with MultiMC, but thanks for letting me know.

Just want to clear something up. I am a member of a server which runs MC on v1.5, but I currently have 1.4.7 installed so I can play FTB. If I upgrade my vanilla Minecraft, will FTB no longer work? If that's the case, I assume I can just make a backup of my minecraft.jar file for each version...
