I don't understand your thinking. So in Vanilla you can play forever and there is so many end game options. In FTB, which includes Vanilla MC as well as dozens of massive mods, there is not enough end game items. That makes no sense because everything you can do in Vanilla MC, you can do in FTB.

Steam Turbines are good but you need to set up a maintenance free way to power your boiler. If you do this, then all you have to do is smelt steel and change the rotor every 4(Real life) days I believe.

If you have too much MJ, Look into getting into Bees. The genetic manipulation machines that come with Extra Bees eat MJ. One of the machines uses 100 MJ/t, one of them uses 50 MJ/t and so on.
