funny thing about minecraft is, that running at 70 fps, might give a few "chops" if the fps is fluctuating. This is due to the fps dropping beneath the 60 hz of the monitor. And believe it or not, but our eyes are created in such an amazing way that they see some kind of change in the picture...

100 fps in vanilla? sounds quite low imo, i hit 200-250, and i play between 60-90 in dw20, so 100 fps wouldn't leave much power in ftb

Minecraft runs on a single core, i'm the lucky owner(i think myself) of a quadcore amd processor too. (phenon II x965 oc'ed 3,8ghz) but since minecraft runs on one core, running a server would strike another core, and spread out the load on your entire cpu, which is what you want! regarding...

The new ipad air has an amazing cpu, that cpu is really beast compared to all other tablets. I don't know much about it's gpu, but i know that the cpu is more than 10 times better than the one in ipad 2

try hitting f3, and notice the ram amounts in the upper right corner. If the ram keeps filling, lag spike and then a drop it's a lack of rams to fill, otherwise it's your cpu. Modded minecraft takes a lot of cpu power

Get a desktop, that's my best advice really. 4gbs of ram will do, but 6 or 8 are good to have. Go with intel processor, i5/i7 preferably

I can personally handle both a server and client with 4 gigs, so 8gb is enough for everything out there

As a guy pulling a server for my friends and playing on it myself, removing rain and the lag it brings is awesome, this is nice!

Looking at it's specs it should be capable of pulling it off, but it is hard to judge because it is also dependent on other stuff than the specs like what stuff you install, heat and many other things...

nano zombies? How about Quantum skeletons! Met one in the wild, not having a bow, only a sword..... Killing that thing were almost impossible. Not to mention it's rapid fire when you are close to it!

When you can pop all your items in to a few drives, moving is easy, all you have to do is build the new base. That's why i personally think restarting for another location is meaningless but exploring the current world and build a new base and then move to it is the way to go :p

I think the new research mechanism is awesome, not being forced just to "dump" items in research, but actually researching stuff gives you knowledge. I really like the way he have thought around this. But i have yet to play it though :p

I also managed to use more than 10k iron (doesn't seem as much, but to me it is) that was about 10 max size quarries, you're going to use the resources sooner or later!
