    Minecraft Darwin Awards 2014

"Diamonds near lava" hardly counts; everyone knows there's a magnetic effect at work there. ;) While playing around with (the very OP) Morph, I decided to go get some forms from the Nether. So, bat mode (infinite creative mode flight + no fall damage), and off I went. I killed a few things...

How often do you visit other people's bases?

I bred the energetic branch of bees (again) the other week; managed to clean forget about their lightning trait in the process. The first strike hit within a few seconds of the new queen going in the apiary. I turned around to see my three-story house (made entirely out of wood) on fire. A...

How often do you visit other people's bases?

True, but in FTB, if one wants lots of rotten flesh for a build they tend not to go out and collect it like they would in regular MineCraft - they build something that'll generate so much of the stuff that they suddenly feel the need to build more disk drives or whatever to store it all. That...

    Automating Dye trees

I dunno, I reckon a turtle wouldn't have any problems with them. I haven't found a tree they won't cut up thus far. Might be a little slow for your purposes, as they don't use magical "pluck logs remotely from out of the air" technologies.

Redstone Energy Cell w/ BC Gates

Since you mention it, if you just want to charge a cell with a dynamo, you hook up some dynamos to the current cells with conduits, then... that should be that. The dynamos should run when the cell has room for more energy, and stop when they don't. Easy to set up, though it does take the fun...

    What happens when you update?

Er, didn't you just answer the question yourself? If you choose to install such an update, then you typically need to start again.

Redstone Energy Cell w/ BC Gates

You're probably used to thinking of redstone as being either "off" or "on", but it's actually analog - a redstone torch is putting out a power of 15. As your redstone dust leads further away from that, the signal strength starts to drop off (you can actually see the dust get dimmer as you move...

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Were it the case that a packet got dropped, there wouldn't be two blocks placed, yes? ;) Odds are that's the intention behind it, but nevertheless it shouldn't be happening.

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

Consider - how would a delay in network transmissions cause the server to think I pressed the button twice, when I in fact pressed it once? I don't have this problem trying to eg pick up a single stack of items from a chest. It's a bug, though I'll certainly believe lag triggers it. Bearing in...

My First Magic Farm World - A story of Good Luck and Bad

Fireball shooting zombie? It may be worth noting that villages will trigger occasional "zombie sieges" at night time - these consist of a group of zombies simply spawning somewhere around the village (or more likely IN it, if the place is large enough). These guys ignore regular spawning rules...

How often do you visit other people's bases?

I think a setup whereby everybody's close works well. If each player has something at their base that the others don't, then that's incentive for those others to visit, and that's incentive for the owner to actually work on the place.

    Alveary in Hellish temperature

That said, is the cobalt mutation biome specific? I can't find anything suggesting that it is... The main issue here seems to be that it wants imperial and infernal bees (and a block of cobalt under the hive, but I assume that's less of an issue). Assuming infernal queens require a hellish...

    Infernal, Abyssal, and Oblivion Hives

I believe so - OP on my server's got a whole boat load in his AE system from quarries.

What am I doing wrong? [DW 1.6.4 1.0.12 - Diamond Pipes]

Er, ones that are at least on par with a void pipe, please. Not lag monsters. ;)

What am I doing wrong? [DW 1.6.4 1.0.12 - Diamond Pipes]

What would be as fast as a void pipe? Void chests are dead slow, but I'm curious as to what the other options are. Our server's still on x.11. My current setup uses quite a few diamond pipes and they all work fine. Cobblestone is among the items filtered, in fact at one stage I set up much the...

Are the new TE Energy Cells automatable?

Not so much "unfortunate" as just "plain old". I'd recently read otherwise, but admittedly not tested it. My bad.

    Portable tank question

Animations don't cause lag - might slow your frame rate, perhaps. My lava tank only gives me problems when the liquiducts/fluiducts/whatever they're called now are filling it. Large lighting updates as the lava goes through them. Should've used the solid versions.

Are the new TE Energy Cells automatable?

Assuming the computer is right next to the cell and using redstone.getAnalogInput(), I don't see why you'd need the comparator. Depending on the version numbers involved, the TE cells may or may not emit a signal.
