Once you have redstone, you should have power. It's not like the IC2 electric tools that need a batpack or constant recharges. Just get a basic generator and you'll be good to go forever. Stone is slow. And starting with a slow speed caps your eventual speed even with redstone. It's one thing...

I know I'm probably beating a dead horse here but.. Dartcraft.

You can squeeze liquid force out of force logs. And force engines will put out 8 MJ/t when supplied with liquid force and water and 10 MJ/t with milk. To some people, being able to supply an engine that produces 10MJ/t without going through weeks of tree breeding is OP.

Lapis is extremely expensive. You need over 7 stacks of the stuff to max it out. I wouldn't waste that on a stone hammer. Also electric is better bang for your buck than moss. Also, why waste a slot on diamond? Just get a better material for the head and use the slot on redstone.

Not really. See, Forestry Tree breeding is needlessly complicated and irritating, which is why people don't like doing it. Forcing people to dick around with a bad (in their opinion) mechanic that isn't very fun (to them) is not innovation.

The innovation in Force engines is the throttle. Which other engine allows you to vary the output of your engine based on a separate input that gives more power for rarer materials? Allowing you to scale up your power production in the mid-late game by adding a new resource, instead of just...

The problem is that we have more machines that use more MJ/t now. BC can't stay static and limp along with 6MJ/t engines any more. It just looks ridiculous to have 160 or 200 engines stacked up wasting space and causing lag. Granted, 12MJ/t isn't a *whole* lot better, but it's a step in the...

Honestly, all that says to me is that BC, Forestry and Railcraft need to step their game up a notch. Force engines are about as trivial to automate as a line of combustion engines. And they produce the same energy as a combustion engine when given the same fluids (fuel+water). The only...

That's cause MPS has ridiculous regen. I ran with full lvl2 charge force gear on every slot except an Advanced Nanochestplate and mining with a speed 5 drill only lasts about 15 minutes.

Dartcraft is fine. I've been running with it heavily in my latest build and while it's nice for the early game, it lags behind MPS and even good old Quantum armor when you get to the late game. The tools also aren't better than the top-end TC tools or the MPS power glove. I'm actually planning...

looking for a lot of free power

    1) Griefprevention 2) Chunkloaders 3) Aesthetics Yeah, you aren't being creative enough, no offense. There are several uses for massive amounts of power. 1) Extra parallelization on your current machines. Running the full set of bee machines takes up 300 MJ/t. If you make copies so you can do...

looking for a lot of free power

Not really. It's not space efficient at all. If you want progression, Gregtech has multiple options for nuclear and fusion power generation that far outstrip the basic tree farm setup. And even without Gregtech, you run into a point where getting more power means building several giant 9x9...

It's no different from abusing cows to get milk for biogas engines. The only difference here is that since the rancher's range is 5x5, you can stack more of them around the squid. Also, you are conveniently forgetting the 32 bioreactors necessary to make ethanol from those 8 ranchers.

The Final Word on Steam Boiler Efficiency

The Dartcraft force engines allow you to apply the throttle fluid to ANY fuel. So using milk actually makes them produce 7.5MJ/t (750,000 total MJ) and using crushed ice would be 12MJ/t (1,200,000 total MJ). Also, getting force income isn't too difficult. Force tree logs can be squeezed for...

looking for a lot of free power

The problem with solars has never been their output. What people dislike about them is that they don't require any complexity or originality. Just plop down a single generic block and be done with it. With a tree farm you still have to build all the infrastructure to feed the planter, power...

How do you extract from the top? I thought MFR ranchers and harvesters spit material out the back?

The Final Word on Steam Boiler Efficiency

I'd be interested to see how the new DartCraft Force Engines compare to boilers. I know they produce more MJ/t than Combustion Engines once fed with milk or crushed ice, so I'm interested in seeing how they fare against boilers in terms of both efficiency and raw output. I'd do the work myself...

    [Tinkers Construct] The Ultimate Tools

Early game, you shouldn't be putting either repair or electric on your tools at all. You'll be replacing them really soon and wasting the modifier slot on repairing a tool you'll only likely get low durability on once or twice isn't worth it. Better off just using plentiful amounts of...

blaze rods got nerfed. Coal from wither skeleton spawners is still a valid option though.

    [Tinkers Construct] The Ultimate Tools

Nope. Battery is by far the better option. First because it can be charged more easily and quickly. Second, because (at least in Unleashed 1.1.3) the electric modifier seems to be bugged and tools with electric on it don't drain charge at all, ever. So you don't even need to charge it and it...
