Watch out with the indexer though. They may have fixed it recently, but I remember having trouble with it crashing if you pumped in an obscene amount of drones and then tried to open it.

I'm pretty sure the load/unload problem is a just a MPS bug. I noticed that if it's already keybound to something else, you have to recreate the keybind completely from scratch, but even after unbinding it from the other thing, I still have to press 'k' whenever I login to bring up the keybind menu.

Just use a normal Buildcraft Pump. They are pretty cheap to make, and have the side benefit of also letting you store the lava for use later on. I always use BC pumps in the overworld for my first set of geothermal gens before I can get to the nether.
