Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

It's not that it's hard to figure out. It's that it shouldn't be necessary at all to have to do so. Again, you are introducing extra steps and complication to the initial "getting familiar" phase of the mod. Which is fine for people who are really experience or committed to a goal within the...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

Not really. Which was kind of my point about initial time investments. Yes, if you know ahead of time exactly how many you plates need and have the recipe memorized, shifting the time cost upfront is more efficient. But if you don't know that yet, perhaps because you just downloaded the mod...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

That's an interesting perspective, and if you'll allow I might demonstrate that you might be better off going with a slightly different design. The problem with the hammer+cutter thing isn't that it's an additional *resource* cost. It's that it becomes an additional up-front *time* investment...

Hello, I'd like to share with you all how storing energy in BuildCraft works.

But, and this is important, people aren't concerned with whether it is theoretically possible to get from one storage into useful energy eventually. What they are concerned with is whether you can take a block of that storage, connect it directly to a power transport system and connect that...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

The thing about 64k cells is that they still have a maximum of 63 types, so if you have many items with low item counts, you end up wasting quite a bit of space on the 64k cell. I've found that 16k is right around the sweet spot where the cell tends to have just under the total bytes need to...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

Especially if you're like me, and you prefer to use 4 16k storage disks instead of 1 64k storage disk to maximize efficiency.

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

I'm not saying that you have to play a certain way, or that your way is wrong. I'm saying that you literally cannot make either vanilla minecraft or any of the FTB modpacks do what you are trying to do. I.E. make the period of resource scarcity last forever. It has nothing to do with end-game or...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

You DO realize that with your playstyle no matter what, you'll still end up in the same place right? Whether the smeltery gets you 1.5 ingots or even half an ingot per ore block, you'll eventually get the same surplus of material right? Even if an expensive Rock Crusher is the only method of ore...

    Thaum 4... a dichotomy.

I think what bothers a lot of people about Thaumcraft 4 is that we were expecting to like the mod. Thaumcraft 2 was awesome. It was basically a "magic" based alternative to the big 2 mods (IC2 and BC) with lots of neat machines and very original power system. Thaumcraft 3 was better in some ways...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

Not really. I've created several sorting/automation systems and no two of them are alike. And I've seen plenty of interesting/creative designs in that respect. It is not harder to make a creative and/or interesting design. In fact, with the better tools we have now, we can make some really good...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

Sure, if all you use those farms for is enchanting your mining pick. Some people use them for other things though, like mystcraft, or villager trading, or making food, or feeding essence into a mob spawner, etc. This thread as a whole is a real eye-opener about just how very little some people...

    Thaum 4... a dichotomy.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of the Thaumcraft 4 research. It has all the bad parts of the Thaumcraft 3 system (randomness, inability to see where your research progress is going) but now coupled with an even less intuitive system AND with finite resource generation. For example, I was playing...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

It doesn't even make any sense unless he's using a silk-touch hammer or something, since pulverizers only work on ore blocks.

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

I really don't know what to tell you. Generally, I never built an ore processing or sorting system "just for the sake of it." I always build one at the point when it becomes more tedious to walk from storage to pulverizer and back than to just build a system to do it for me, while I'm off doing...

    fastest way to pump items

Pretty much the fastest you can get it is 1stack per tick. Diamond autarchic gates on a wooden transport pipe will do that. As will combustion engines. Same with precision import buses. However, if I'm right that you are moving the output of a quarry or other mass resource collector into your...

Those little things that irk you about Minecraft

If the key is bound to another mod, MPS won't remember it. For example, "f" is default for the Gravisuit. You can tell by whether the key-binding is red (invalid) or blue (valid) in the MPS keybind menu.

    Was ethanol nerfed?

Quick clarification, I meant x4, not x8. Anyway, IC2 power gen having linear progression is one of the things that's broken about IC2. See, power storage, transport and consumption is all packet based. To move more power (and get lower transport loss), you have to go up a tier. Moving 16...

    Was ethanol nerfed?

I think what he meant to say is that IC2 EU is geometric. Each 'tier' of power is 8 times the previous tier. That's not a gregtech thing, that's just how the power packet system works.

    Was ethanol nerfed?

I've run out of wood from my 9x9 MFR tree farm before due to using the wood for crafting frames.

    Was ethanol nerfed?

The thing is, people don't dislike Forestry tree-breeding and multifarms because it's "too hard". They dislike it because it's "unnecessarily complex". Your comment about people deriving a lot of thought and complexity out of MFR highlights exactly what is wrong with the current direction of...
