    Your favorite mod, and why?

Gotta go by category since I can't narrow it down to one. Tools and things: TiCo of course Tech: Mekanism and Ender IO. Mek factories are wonderful and EIO conduits are all I use anymore Magic: Blood Magic, I love it so much it gets my first 2 diamonds on any new world Utility: Opis/Mapwriter...

Thermal Expansion RF generation in other mods?

If you use Ender IO, its energy conduits will convert both ways between MJ and RF as needed, not one-way RF to MJ like TE conduits. So you could use any form of MJ production you pleased. And Big Reactors as previously mentioned, they put out massive amounts of RF They all put out 40 RF/t, the...

    Horizons: TiC + Metallurgy

Wow, what's it doing wrong this time? It's seemed pretty good since the common ores were moved out, other than drowning in potash And you need that 30-50% more when it's so randomly strewn about that you can never find what you need

    Horizons: TiC + Metallurgy

In this case they're close to default though. Fresh download of Horizons, the only thing changed in the Metallurgy configs seems to be setting vanilla ores to their normal spawn heights and maybe tweaks to veins per chunk. Everything else is Metallurgy's default random spawning

    Horizons: TiC + Metallurgy

Check the config, but if it's using Metallurgy defaults you can find any ore at any level, it's completely random. The only things guaranteed in default is that only the Nether set spawns in the Nether, and only the End set spawns in the End

[Solved] Help making no lava and no water in mystcraft age

I've had good luck using the flat terrain modifier with either plains or extreme hills single biome. I haven't seen any of them with underground liquids of any kind, only surface lakes

What do you guys think of soul shards 2?

Huh, guess I missed that since I don't really use Dartcraft for anything but the wrench. I'll have to look into that if it's cheaper than SS2 spawners

What do you guys think of soul shards 2?

They're only marginally useful to me anymore since they're basically vanilla spawners you can stick a lever to. If you didn't have to be so close for it to run, I wouldn't even mind it being so slow. Only really useful for mobs that don't normally have spawners, otherwise I'll just move a...

    Moonstone?

I've been there for a long time, and it really gets old. Even making an effort to change configs as little as possible, I put off updating because I know it'll turn into lots of time tweaking things. After 1-2 RR updates a week lately, I swear I could turn off puddles in the config blindfolded...

How do you decide on a starting seed/world?

I tend to reroll worlds at least a few times trying to find a nice area around spawn. If I don't get a spawn I like after a few tries, I'll go run around the last world to find somewhere I like. It's even harder when you're really picky about where you settle, there are only about 2-3 favorite...

    Phantom in the nether?

It's from Biomes o Plenty. Nasty things and they're practically invisible, but they seem pretty rare. They drop ghostly essences, which I think you can use to summon ender dragons somehow

    Direwolf 20's pack

It looks like most of the BoP biomes are disabled by default in the config, so yes you would need to enable what you want. And of course set world type to BoP when you create it Edit: The mod is enabled by default in DW20

    Loot chest

Gotta admit, I'm a bit jealous. Wouldn't care about the rest but I can never find division sigils. Early builder's wands are wonderful though, makes base building much easier

    Large-scale lighting/spawn-prevention mods?

I haven't tested very thoroughly but it seems to be a spheroid with a ~64 block radius horizontal and ~32 vertical in the current version. The 128 radius that gets thrown around is (I think) because RWTema misspoke and said radius when he meant diameter in one of Dire's videos. It would...

Thaumcraft 4: More "fun" than fun?

If it still works (haven't tried in the new version), cobble in a TE Liquid Transposer with water can do it too. Automated and unlimited. Or, 10 minutes in the Twilight Forest will have you swimming in mossy cobble, everything there is made of it

    Where to start with Horizons?

That really depends on what you're looking to do. But if you have any interest in the magic mods, those should be started as soon as you have the resources since they're meant to be long-term progression. I've started using my first 2 diamonds for a BM altar, and get an AM2 book as soon as I...

Thaumcraft 4: More "fun" than fun?

It does get a bit grindy, but it still feels better than the crazy resource burn that research used to be. It helps to have bookshelves and crystal clusters around the table, they cause most aspects to regenerate a few points when they run out. The only weird bit is that they don't start...

    Large-scale lighting/spawn-prevention mods?

Magnum torches may be expensive, but the massive spawn-prevention radius is well worth it. The chandeliers that make it prevent spawns as well in a smaller area (16 block radius I think) and are a bit easier to make

Change in Railcraft Boilers as of 8.3?

I always use liquid boxes with fuel, and those start with less fuel than they used to. Startup may be a factor with solid boxes still but it can be bypassed with that new fire crystal. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/38558957/Minecraft/Railcraft/boiler_changes.txt Link is the actual...

Change in Railcraft Boilers as of 8.3?

I'm pretty sure they just produce steam faster when they're at max heat now. There may be a bit of an efficiency change still, but if there is it's hardly noticeable. On the bright side, they aren't so painfully fuel-hungry when you start them up now
