Its just aesthetic, right? My steves cart farms produce more wood than I know what to do with. If periodically one block were missing from a tree I doubt I would even notice at this point. After awhile you'll be at the same point.

You can eliminate the need for pipes by just putting the turbine adjacent to the boiler. Also, I think you need a bigger boiler. They do take a lot of steel to build and lots of fuel to operate though.
