New myncraft way learn symbols is search its in world. In future version you not just crazy jump by random worlds for symbols collection. In fact no like thing as random world as i understand will be in mod.

i think block ids still be used world save but its (new) will be autoassigned for strings and remembered in table in world save (at conversion just will be build ids table by existed world. In this case mods with unique block/items will always no conflict and same blocks from different mods...

Mystcraft already can control some mods world additions (world generation part) as ore or biomes, But currently imposible remove for example recipes or possibility place blocks or use items from mod. Maybe this possible implement but this will reqired modify deep internal minecraft code.

As i understand last problem is more RedPower bug.

Mystcraft still have crash problems. For me it crash from time to time when i exit game in single play mode without visible bad affects to world save.

not forget copy config files for added mods from original packs.

I read in Ars Magica thread that it not compatible currently with Optifine. A lot ppl use optifine and adding Ars Magica in current state will create problems for they.

I think currently it will exist in world save directory until you manually delete it.

You need possible also look related config file in config dir and copy it also if it missing in target modpack config dir.
