    Confused/overwhelmed

Well Geothermals work pretty well, exspecially with TE. Thanks to TE the Solar-Nerf in Gregs isn't a problem, since a Magma-Crucible supplied with enough Netherrack easily powers your Magma-Engines and Geothermals and you can even output from a Crucible directly into the Geothermal. Technically...

just want to get something off my chest

Not sure, with Golden Waterproof Pipes you got only 1/4 - 1/3 of the EU you get with the non-steam-setting. I guess the Steam-Option only works for Low-Output Reactors, so that you do not lose as much steam because you are not able to pump it out. But maybe this whole steam-thingy. I would count...

    Tin gives me headaches

I think we will see either TE or IC2-Generation in the future. First both Mods macerate/pulverize the Ores into their specific ingots, which actually is a bonus for IC2 since you can get IC2-Dusts via GregTech even without the ores. And second both will have config-options for Ore-Density.

    GregTech Debate Thread

Well... even with IC2 you only need 2 blaze-rods, not a big deal. And Lag + Nether is a thing from the past. Most Servers even run more than 2 dimensions and the nether is very lag-friendly. And last you are talking about a temporary solution. Using the Railcraft Blastfurnace is the alternative...

    GregTech Debate Thread

Well... the normal drill is as fast as the diamond-pick and has 200 Uses. So 7,5 Drill charges is a Diamond-Pick. Thats 75.000 EU or 19 pieces of charcoal. So instead of a diamond-pick you could just use a Drill, a Generator and 19 pieces of charcoal to do everything a diamond-Pick can do...

    Free Bc Energy Plant

You are always in for a surprise :P ...well technically it isn't a surprise, someone spoiled it already.

    GregTech Debate Thread

Well having a non-depletable Diamond-Pick right at the start screws the balance completly. Removing the Mining-Drill from early game was good thing and since it got replaced by the Jackhammer you can still remove Stone without the need for a pick. Removing the drill from early-game even makes...

    Gregtech recipes = ridiculous?

Another point is, that FTB only uses 1.4.2 Gregs, which has some issues (Mining-Laser is too cheap and it lacks a good blastfurnace with more easy access). In 1.4.5 you can mine Iridium in the End (well it is not that abundant, but it will be enough for the Matter-Fabricator), you can create a...

    Free Bc Energy Plant

Magma-Crucibles made CovertJaguar nerfing the HeatOutput of Lava. So a Boiler won't create enough energy to allow Lava-Creation with CobbleStone, since the HeatValue of Lava was halved. Biomass, Peat and Tree/Charcoal Farms should still be able to sustain themself while producing energy...

    Lack of tin/copper

Actually Ores do spawn biome-dependend, although this is only true for certain ores. And yes player added an option to adjust the spawn-rate for IC2-Ores. I think it was on a request by slow, since they already noticed that balancing the ores with so many mods using them is a really hard...

    Bauxite dust

Bauxite only exists in Forest and Plains Biomes. ExtraBiomes might hit you here, since although Plains and Forests are really common, they can become quite rare with ExtraBiomes installed (some of the ExtraBiomes should also have Bauxite, but I'm not sure which).

    FTB without IC2

Well... people prefer TE other IC2, since TE is even more imbalanced than IC2^^ Lava was a pretty cheap and good energy-source with IC2... with TE it's ridiculous. Also IC2-machines are pretty cheap, but well TE-machines aren't more expensive (I would say they are even cheaper, since they have...

    I'd like to know something.

Well even if Pack A is replaced later you will not have to start a new world. Just use other packs and disable mods you don't have in Pack A. I think Pack A was something like a Test-Pack, which will be replaced by Ultimate, the Direwolf-Pack or the Technic-Pack. One of these Packs should...

    GregTech Debate Thread

In this case I would suggest removing IC2 and Gregs. Since exspecially IC2 changes a lot of vanilla-mechanics (exspecially about explosions) which make no sense without IC2. If you don't use a mod it is always better to remove it instead of ignoring it. And if you are on a server than how about...

Communal mystcraft, or: how to solve a crisis on infinite worlds?

They are not that bad, but it could still be a problem. Also if you have tons of these worlds players barely meat each other. My suggestion would be to disable the ability to craft Agebooks (the option is the first in the config under "general"). Then create a hub with a link-modifier and a...

    Diamond making machines

Well with TE obsidian ist just a bucket of lava and a bucket of water... not that expensive either. I don't really think that it makes a difference if you use obsidian or bricks, bricks have the advantage that you may have the clay nonetheless because you need it for Coke Ovens and some other...

Tekkit is a joke but my FPS was Higher

Basic problems. FTB and Tekkit use different versions of mods. 1.2.5 has a lot of very stable mods with good performance. FTB uses an open-beta-version of industrial-craft it uses rather new mods like steve carts 2 or thermal expansion etc. FPS drops are normally related to extra-biomes large...

    Gregtech recipes = ridiculous?

1.4.5 will change some things and the progress becomes a bit more solid in gregtech. Also TE has a hardmode-setting too, if you enable the more expensive macerator-recipe you should enable the more expensive smelter and pulverizer-recipe too Actually I like the G on guis. If every machine...

    Gregtech good or bad?

Why exactly do you have to run it that long? How about working to place more energy down. It is only 10 times slower or only 1.6 times slower if you would not have used scrap. 166.666 was old massfab + scrap, 1.000.000 was old massfab without scrap and 1.666.666 is new massfab with scrap...

[getting started] need some sort of power system going

Well actually I believe that IC2 needs a major machine overhaul. I suggested this a long time before to alblaka but the problem is time. Basically you could do it like that: Build Macerator-Chassis, the chassis has 4 Upgrade-Slots, one for the actual grinder and 3 for additional upgrades...
