    Measure MJ/Conductive Pipes

Hmm, there's an interesting observation. Personally, my thoughts on the matter are that any benefits of a slightly higher efficiency given by conductive pipes are outweighed by explosion risk. Unless you manage things very, very carefully, your pipes WILL explode, and ruin a perfectly good...

    Two platinum == Limitless iridium

I have to say, even though this will make things much harder, it resolves a lot of the silliness that was present in previous versions - namely, the fact that you could get more rich slag by induction furnacing your ores directly than bonus ores by pulverizing. I mean, can you say 'dominated...

Any updates for xycraft and/or Thaumcraft 3?

For those of you who got excited about TC 3.0.2, some important info: TC 3.0.2 requires Forge 6.6, which requires MC 1.4.7. So you won't get any delicious Tier 3 until the packs update - or you could grab the testing versions, although personally I'm fine waiting until Monday.

Help! How to get started with Steves Carts?

Hmm. That might be the case, actually. The end result is the same, though: if you're not careful, you could find your pipes cut off. I ended up just replacing the dirt near the manager with wood - nearly got a full barrel.

Help! How to get started with Steves Carts?

There's something you should be aware of that caught me off guard several times: The cart is very, very aggressive in how it cuts up leaves; if you leave some pneumatic tubing (for instance) too close to the trees, it'll cut that up, too. Best to rip up the dirt close to the manager, if you're...

Is there a way to prevent EU loss through wires?

There's also the fact that transformers are significantly cheaper than batboxes and the like, and that reversing the line doesn't involve wrenching every single box in the line. Also, I believe that transformers don't have a transmission cap, so they're all around the superior choice. (Can you...

    Measure MJ/Conductive Pipes

The correct answer is "not yet, but soon". If you go to Thermal Expansion's wiki, they mention that their testing version has an MJ reader (I don't think that's the correct term, though) which uses, among other things, the Redstone Conductance Coil, and it has a few nifty capabilities - or...

    Update and current world question

Well, strictly speaking vanilla 1.4.7 introduces quartz in the Nether. Then again, the uses for this quartz are essentially new redstone contraptions, most of which can be done in other ways, and cool building blocks. See next post.

How often does the FTB launcher update?

Well, you could switch to the "internal testing" version of the modpacks - those run on 1.4.7, so you should be fine there. But then again, "internal testing". I would back up my save carefully first.

Any updates for xycraft and/or Thaumcraft 3?

However, Thaumcraft 3.0.2 requires forge 6.6.0, which in turn requires minecraft 1.4.7 - so if you're playing Mindcrack, for instance, you're out of luck.

How to make arcane stone blocks[Thaumcraft 3]

Oh, you shouldn't do it in a crafting table. I think one of the "default" discoveries - in the upper block - is a "magic crafting table". I forget the correct name. Anyway, you put your wand in the correct slot, then fill out the crafting recipe as usual - crafting the blocks will drain vis...

    Where to start?

Oh! There's a subtlety you should be aware of: The recipes in the newest version of TE changed - I don't think it's in the pack yet, but it will almost certainly be soon. The induction furnace and magmatic engines now require invar to make, so now ferrous ingots are actually rather useful. (Or...

    [Forestry] Sinister bees?

It's never...? Curses! Curses! Oh well, I think I have a nocturnal line somewhere *mutter, mutter* Anyway, as you can tell, it's quite a challenge. Although the nocturnal line in particular... there's one bee you'll probably find fairly early on that yields it, hint hint.

    Extra Bees in Magic World

Thaumic bees don't alter the world gen, however, while extra bees do - rock, marbled, water, and nether (?) bees are the new generated bees. I wouldn't really expect any "problems", though.

    Building a Thaumcraft Room

Given all these cool setups, though, I really have to ask: Are you guys planning on "regenerating" the local aura, or are you just depleting some larger node nearby? I'm a real stickler for sustainability, you see, and I'm honestly curious just how long you guys will end up using those rooms.

    [Forestry] Sinister bees?

Of course, this comes with the obvious caveats. The hint on the old wiki was pretty obvious about which species you need to breed, but the real fun is making your bees survive in there. The Nether is: Hellishly hot. (That is, maximum temperature) Arid. a Cave (that is, it has no access to the...

What do I do with..... Guide

I have to add, though, that your information on Factorization's diamond and coal yields isn't quite accurate... In addition to Zjarek_S's note on diamond and redstone, you can also use the factorization grinder on coal ore to get 3.5 coal. The situation with factorization and silver ore is...

Sorry, should have quoted the previous post -

What mod is the Barrel in?

On one hand, the ore processing line requires a block of diamond to set up, not to mention a stack of silver to get enough power, and a stack of lead for the heaters and motors. On the other, the ore processing line can get you, I think, 2.2 diamonds (on average) per diamond ore without messing...

    MJ to EU

Well, the presumption was that OP had a way to get MJ quickly, and we were suggesting ways to turn that MJ production into EU production. If OP has a chest somewhere full of redstone cells, on the other hand, then magma crucible->geothermal would be the way to go, sure.
