    What mods could be used to replace redpower 2 (not talking about its place in FTB)

    Personally I would miss marble. Nether quartz is considered a replacement, but that's one ore that's horrid to go and mine in mass amounts to make nice, clean white building platforms. Although I do find Marble limiting. I wish it had a blank form, similar to a Portal 2 white panel.

    Moving items from one map to the other.

    The only issue I could see occuring with a transfer via mystcraft age would be if objects have different block ids/ item ids in your new pack. Be careful of that.

    Sorting with barrels

    With them stacked on top of each other the only ways to input into them is a router. Unfortunately they don't accept any inputs outside the top and bottom. Routers'll distribute to all the barrels stacked onto each other. It'll be slow without upgrades though.

    I think Thaumcraft doors are the only ones different. Otherwise you just have the Obsidian Plate option that ignores mobs. Just place one in front of the door. No redstone necessary.

    The only thing I don't like about BoP is the Redwood forest, probably because I prefer ExtraBiomesXL's version of the redwood trees. I prefer my trees 4x4 rather then the odd stack effect of redwood logs to look like giant roots.

    You're correct, I had to double check. Although it comes close. Gregtech adds 5 ores to overworld, while Xycraft adds 6. Except Gregtech is an extension of IC2, which adds tin,uranium and copper. So by extension, Gregtech requires 8 ores to be added to ore generation to function. So again...

    That causes the pulverizer to jam up though, which could be considered an efficiency issue. If you put a hopper between the pulverizer and the powered furnace, nothing gets jammed up unless the hopper gets full.

    Judging from the video I saw, which was 1.2.5, what happens is the player just gets dropped from a massive height I think. The items look like they disappear though.

    Unless of course you've got silver and iron in your pulverizer output, in which case only one will go into the powered furnace at a time, which is the issue from the sounds of it.

    My guess would by Xycraft, Thaumcraft, and Redpower being on the list the longest. If only because each has a lot of substance to it to update. In Xycraft's case, substance being planned new content to the mod.

    The beta pack is probably the best solution. Release what you can for now, then update as bugs get worked out and other mods update. Then again, it's what they did for 1.4's update.
