Are you running a fresh installed Java version ?

Yeah the IDs are not the same, but the save folder contains IDs of blocks, not their names, making them impossible to retriview (or maybe if you replace all the old IDs with the new ones -_-)

Can you be more precise about the error you get ? A screenshot of the launcher maybe ? How to you know it failed ? Please note that after the "main download" (about 100 MB) there is another small progressbar for sound packages etc... which migh take up to 15mins, or even more !
