    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

It depends upon how we're pretending that the machine works. :) If we say that the horizontals are drilled out mechanically, then there should be a fixed limit or maybe tiers: Hobbyist=3 block radius, Industrial=5 radius, Commercial=9 radius. But if the work is being done by force fields...

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

Agreed. There is already a power cost as the machine does its thing. I thought about suggesting "Power" as a 4th cost for an upgrade, but by the time a player is setting up automated mining and the infrastructure that goes along with it, power is so easy to come by that unless the upgrade sucked...

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

Cost v Benefit is a real big issue for me. So although I like the idea of being able to upgrade your MekMiner, my opinion is that, in addition to the initial cost of creating the upgrade, if you're getting an ongoing benefit from the upgrade there should be an ongoing cost. Three examples of...

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

Although the IC2 Miner dug out 1x1s, often the pathing on the horizontal drilling would end up creating 2-high areas. These were often very dangerous. :) But the risk was offset by the reward since there was always lots of valuables to be found at the end of the horizontals.

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

since the IC2 MIner only drilled out single blocks (horizontally and vertically) it was very non-invasive, practically invisible from the surface. Another thing I liked about it. :) The typical process would be to use a handheld scanner to find a high ore value, then place the Miner and its...

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

The IC2 Miner was like a "smart drill" that would dig straight down a block then drill horizontally toward any valuable materials. Once there were no valuables in its scan range, it would drill down one more block & repeat. It left most of the world untouched except for the vertical shaft and...

    Mekanism: Feature Request Thread

One of my favorite things about the IC2 Miner was exploring the tunnels that it left behind. There were always bits and pieces of ore vein that were just outside of the Miner's range, and it was all opened up for easy pickings. I had some really fun adventures going down those mineshafts. So...

    32x [32x] JohnSmith Technician's Remix

Have you seen The_Order's Underground Biomes textures? I think they have a much more "natural" feel to them. I've been adding them to my JSTR pack for awhile now. He only covers the blocks, but good stuff.

    MPS Support Thread

The issue has come up, but MM got frustrated trying to find a solution and (temporarily, I hope) threw in the towel. https://github.com/MachineMuse/MachineMusePowersuits/issues/249 I like the config idea. That way it is up to the individual to configure MPS for whatever crazy mod they're trying...

    32x [32x] JohnSmith Technician's Remix

Ladder = fix. I just scanned through the whole list of items/blocks in the mods that I have loaded, and the only other missing textures I saw were from Twilight Forest: Timewood Leaves, Leaves of Transformation, Miners Leaves, Sorting Leaves. I don't even know if these are active blocks or not...

    32x [32x] JohnSmith Technician's Remix

Grabbed the new pack like you suggested. Sure enough, the glowstone and redstone ores are now fixed. The ladder is still borked, though. If I pull a ladder from another pack, it loads up correctly. So there's something amiss with the JSTR ladder. On another note, was someone able to get ahold...

excellent! Thanks for all your work on this pack!

    32x [32x] JohnSmith Technician's Remix

I've got the latest 1.6 pack (just checked with the patcher). I'm having problems with the ladder, redstone ore, and glowstone ore textures. I just see the checkerboard texture where the real texture should be. When I replaced the ladder.png file with a known-good image from another pack, and it...

    biomes o plenty

"Does not work" is not a very useful description of the problem. Without any actual details, I'd guess: 1. BoP adds a lot of IDs. You probably have conflicts. Consult your local error log. 2. BoP installed fine, but you haven't told MC to use BoP worldgen

    creating a modpack

This is not true. The fact that your server is private does NOT mean that you have the right to redistribute someone else's work. Most developers allow redistribution for private modpacks, but not all. Check with the dev to confirm their terms for redistribution.

Private Packs: How Do I Make One?

Watchful11 -- thanks for all you do for the FTB Community! The guidelines state that you will not consider MC 1.6 modpacks. But with the new FTB launcher coming soon(tm), I am assuming that this restriction will be lifted. Will there be a new process for 1.6 private packs? If so, can you clue...

    creating a modpack

This is not true. The only time you do not need to check with the mod owner is if you are only using the mod yourself. If you give the mod to anyone else you are "redistributing" the mod. Most mods allow redistribution for private servers, but some do not allow ANY redistribution at all (Zhark's...

    Universal Cable (UE) question

The Hydrogen Generators DO create a lot of lag on the servers. Again, probably due to the same lighting effects that the UniCable used to have. I love the H2 Gens, too, but they drop my fps from about 50ish to 20ish :) It is client-side, though. I haven't seen any server impact

    Universal Cable (UE) question

The lag problem was a lighting/animation issue that was fixed months ago. I've never heard anything about a memory leak/chunk loading issue, and I'm in the Mek git and UE IRC all the time. I can say that I've had UniCables running on my server for months with no "grinding to a halt". The Mek...

What do you think about the new launcher (with pictures)?

MultiMC 4 is not 1.6.x compatible. MultiMC 5 will be, but the original dev has taken a hiatus while a couple others continue the project. My guess is that FTB's launcher drops long before MultiMC 5 does.
