Huh, thought I saw a nether and end shard recipes in NEI.

They absolutely are easier. Also slower, and you need to chunk load a bigger area. Honestly, half of the way I did it came down to what would stress my PC less, since it's a slightly cruddy computer. Still might have used drones if I could have gotten the accursed relative coordinates function...

First, I set up a spot loader in the chunk I was using as my rail station. Rail station consisted of a module toggler, a cargo manager, some detector rails, and advanced detector rails. Two carts, one that only had an engine, track remover, and cleaning machine, the other had galgadorian drill...

I used steve's carts to dismantle the village. Oodles of loot with no risk, if you set it up right. Setup was a PITA though.

Mine was trading 1 emerald for only two glowstone, so it's not exactly the same trades.

Bug: when you craft ardite ore you get an extra nether gate. The extra gate has one extra damage taken out of it as well. Normally I'd PM a dupe bug, but it's far more expensive than the normal recipe, so it's doubtful it will be exploited.

You have to turn zombie villagers. Splash potion of weakness + golden apple. In my experience, you usually get an MCA villager, but sometimes vanilla villagers. To the best of my knowledge, there were never villagers in the nether, it was just something the Yogcast guys cooked up.

Well, I'm done. At least until the next update. There's still plenty I could invent and automate, but I'm sticking a pin in that for now. When there's more quests I'll get back to it, but all the current ones are done. Some of the more important lessons I've learned: Get cobble gen going...

Aw man. I just updated, and no more Swapper. I was really coming to love that mod. Good thing I backed up, now to downgrade and get my tools back.

Pardon me if this has been mentioned before, but the magma crucible quest seems to be bugged. I just crafted one, and the quest didn't complete. Has anyone else had that problem? And yes, it was the right tier. I already had a hardened one, and am irritated that I needed to make another. I'm...

I originally set it up for producing clay. Screw leading into a barrel, then hoppers for the dust. I was making heating elements, so needed a buttload of clay. Also useful for when I expanded my smeltery setup. I was largely using advanced thermal engines for my carts, and they require water...

Flaxbeard's is really the only option for early game water automation too. Unless you luck out and get an iron pick right away, of course. My current world uses mekanism pumps, but ugh, galgador. My big complaint is that it is way too hard to automate brass production with the crucible. The...

I'm going to go ahead and disagree with you about flaxbeard being useless. It's just mostly useless. However, the armor is quite good, and will give you flight fairly early in the game. With golden plates in mine, I was really racking up the xp too. And it never takes damage!

Just a heads up, I spent forever trying to figure out Hardcore Ender Expansion altars, there is hardly any info online and the compendium was pretty vague. Finally got it to create an enhanced brewing stand, and this is how: Instructions say to place up to 8 blocks around the altar as...

? I don't follow, why would drops have alumite, it's an alloy. Iron and aluminum are standard meteor drops. Obsidian as an item can be made in a vat or in a ex nihlo barrel so you don't need an obsidian level pick.

re: pickaxe, I actually jumped straight from bone to alumite (smashed meteors to bypass the progression tree), then ripped up tons of netherrack to train it up. Netherrack is great for an early game lava gen, since you get a whole bucket per piece, and it's super plentiful. Why the heck would...

I tried a loonium in my test world. Meh. It burns through a hell of a lot of mana, and the bulk of what it gives you are early to midgame items anyway. If you've been striking out finding a division sigil in dungeons, it might be worth it, or if you're multiplayer and need nuke virii and stop...

Mekanism has a tank for their own gasses. The recipe is 8 osmium ingots around iron dust. It can also be placed, and you can monitor levels with a comparator. Outputs through the side with the dot on it. When placed you can use the interface to set it to just act as a dumb tank, or to vent...

To hook up some of the mekanism machines to AE, here's a way I found to simplify the process. ME interface in the back, then use Ender IO conduits to extract the finished products from one of the other sides. Ender IO is the best option, since you can run power in the same side as you extract...

At the very least, factory versions of the crusher and smelter are way worth it, especially if you're autocrafting with AE. Running 7 stacks of material at once is a beautiful thing. Ore processing can get you 5x ingots, but good gravy is it expensive and frustrating to set up.
