The Final Word on Steam Boiler Efficiency

Ok, now my question is this: If we are not outputting the steam into engines, but instead to attached turbines, what do the efficiency numbers say? I've slapped two-three turbines on a max size HP boiler in test runs, and for one turbine, have gotten a 100% Output, with a 2nd turbine 75%...

    A delicate question(BTW related)

Agreed... can an Admin lock this thread? It's as flammable as nitrate paper dropped into a barrel of gasoline...

Is it possible to make electric engines not to overheat?

Solar is too mainstream... Use manned water mills with electrical engines!

Safe (No Vulgarity) Server Idea. Good or bad idea?

So: Protestant theme faith for ENTIRE server, which restricts vocabulary... Technological buildings that require applications in secular science, plus the usage of magic as well as Catholic central building design... Logic = Flawed... But it's your server, so w/e...

Regarding tesseracts: does anyone else think this is silly?

Liquids are fuel, not energy... they follow the same classifications as fuels that haven't been burned yet, therefore they are items... Energy tesseracts are better if you want to minimize space, and can accept the energy loss in your setup. Sure, you could just have liquids output to engines...

    Best RTS games discussion

There was also a PC version of that.. we are talking about the game that was published by Bulldog, correct? Also, any of you fleet commanders heard of a game called Homeworld? Never finished the 2nd game in the series, but boy... #nostalgia

[Poll] Do you prefer TE or IC2? Why?

Same... This isn't a black-and-white "which mod is better" situation. You can take away things from IC2 that you clearly can't from TE. The only thing with TE that's better than IC2 is the machines and energy grid... However, what you can't get from TE (as of 02/26/2013): * Infinite Tools *...

    Why i hate Xycraft

If I finish my Chemical Engineering add-on any time soon, you'll thank Redpower for those fields of Basalt/Marble... lol...

    EU to MJ?

I'll sometimes do that, but that's more gimmicky than anything else... I'm actually trying to do my best making an IC2 add-on that more specifically adds what I want. Course, my tolerance for dealing with code isn't great, and my understanding of Java is bleh. However, it's been pretty...

    EU to MJ?

Environmental Geologist, actually... You can keep your damn fossils, I'll be behind the computer working on maps in ArcGIS... In fact, it is because of my specialty as a resource manager that I argue that point: overcoming the obstacles of scarcity. I WANT the ability to find resources that...

    EU to MJ?

Define "Good"... and Unfortunately, that is the side effect of mod compatibility: you can't shield your mod from everything. Sure, you can apply restrictions and such in order to resist some exploited actions from the player-base, but it isn't 100%. Honestly, unless they are 'making diamonds...

    EU to MJ?

No, they don't... they only have to balance around the dedicated design of their specific mods... In fact, they don't have to do that at all. They could create OP tools and such that nullify all other mods in their usage, and virtually overshadow the hilarious exaggeration of Minecraft...

In your next Direwolf20 build, will you bother with IC2?

Most of what's happen to IC2 is the fact that it has become lethargic in innovation... Alot of the new mods right now are pushing onto IC2's doorstep because the one staple component that IC2 had (ore doubling) has been replicated on machines of a different energy system. IC2 also suffers from...

    EU to MJ?

You say that like I'm supposed to be intimidated by him... Yes I'm well aware of the fact that he's the author of Thermal Expansion. I'm also aware at how brilliant his work is with the MJ networking and his machines (which are actually superior than IC2 in early game situations). Stop right...

    EU to MJ?

I wouldn't go that far... I will say that EU wiring mechanics are a bit restricting.. However, if you are using wire for long distance setups, you're doing it wrong... Let's look at lava for just a second. It creates 20k EU per bucket (a nerfed value), 20k MJ in a Combustion engine, and 18k MJ...

    EU to MJ?

The reason why there is more EU produced than MJ is due to the fact that IC uses an inert fuel modifier to 'boost' the value of materials as they are burned. The direct value of this is, in fact, 2.5... While that may inherently mess with values, it not something that you can 'make bank' on. If...

    lava and liquiducts

Gold waterproof pipes move at a rate of 1.6 Buckets per second (not tick). If you are emptying pumps, they are a good choice. However, they aren't entirely ideal in factory setups, when you have to micromanage your liquid around your engines and machines.

    EU to MJ?

Let me explain the reason why coal was used as the model of energy conversion... (since I was one of the earlier members who helped champion the idea)... Back when the first official release of Minecraft was done in 2011, Forge was still very young and fresh and a tad bit limited in some of...

    Why i hate Xycraft

I kinda don't care actually... the most I use Xycraft is for cheap aspects, and even then.. meh... A forth power system is going to get really ridiculous... Not to mention that EE3 is planned to have a conduit system for EMC, so I don't know how well labs are going to handle that...
