Coolest Biomes in Biomes o' plenty

Ominous Woods are my favorite. As a technomancer that inevitably favors Thaumcraft in every playthrough (I cannot escape Azanor's grasp!), I find the ominous woods to be exciting. I love the color, I love the danger, and I love that it counts as a magic biome for all of my thaumotological...

    Sorting & Ore Processing

There is a whole lot of sorting options in different mods. So many that I've lost count, and even in the upcoming expansive list I've most likely forgotten something: Extrautils adds pipes that behave like hoppers over long distances, are fairly cheap to make (32 at a time), and also have a...

    Sources of EU

I've experimented with this before, and it behaves much like how a standard nuke explodes: sends out a series of vectors in all directions that destroy blocks they hit. I used to use a tactic I called "nuke drilling", where I would surround a nuke with warded stone on every side but directly...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

I have not played with IC2e. The last interaction I had with IC2 was in 1.4.7 FTB, particularly with gretech machines involved. I loved most of the mod. I remember my sis was always baffled when she would wake up one day to find that I had come up with some convoluted methane or nitrodiesel...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

Wait no more! Rotarycraft adds a dynamo that converts watts into RF. If you have a gas turbine with jet fuel, the Rotational Dynamo can put out up to 11K RF a tick. Yes, that is more than any current conduit or cell can handle.

What are your thoughts on renewable energy?

There was actually a pretty big discussion on the issue in a previous thread titled "Isn't an MFR tree farm really just a solar panel?": forum.feed-the-beast.com/threads/isnt-an-mfr-tree-farm-really-just-a-solar-panel.37344/ The thing with free power is that there are many more things to talk...

How would you kill 9001 Withers?

I have ICBM installed just for such an occasion.

    What Would Make MFR Balanced?

Vanilla trees aren't a different mod. I guess it was dropped in the drafts somewhere, but the ability to amass wood is quite easy, even if you are just using a vanilla axe with vanilla enchantments.

    What Would Make MFR Balanced?

It is more of a "mods with power shouldn't be powered reliably by vanilla trees" statement than anything else. I focused on the aspects of trees a lot, but the fact is that they are only as powerful as the mod makers have allowed trees to become. In vanilla and in MFR, trees aren't "strong" at...

    What Would Make MFR Balanced?

I don't think it is a matter of being OP insomuch as it is a matter that trees themselves are OP. In most of my playthroughs, I don't even set up a tree farm for the longest time. I just invest in an Axe of the Stream or a Lumber Axe, clear out a forest after I've automated something else...

    Producing excessive amounts of energy?

I was going to say something, but since it is direwolf 20 I'm not sure it would've worked, but might as well. If Rotarycraft is installed, you can use the rotational dynamo hooked up to a gas turbine to produce 11,000 RF/t. Though I don't know if Rotarycraft is in the DW20 pack, so I'm...

    Thaum 4... a dichotomy.

IMO, TC4 is a strong mod, but the way research is handled is just too cumbersome. Not the minigame, that is fine. The aspects are just too hard to gather. In TC3 I could always take comfort in the fact that, whatever aspects I wanted to use, were ultimately replaceable. I just needed more of...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

I do think a lot of the energy systems that are used currently are way too easy. So many blocks are made with the purpose of solving problems instead of providing something new, and the end result is players don't get a feel for machine building and problem solving anymore. Myself included...

What weird cross-mod combos have you found?

You can use the combiner from mekanism with the extractor from rotarcraft to make infinite lapis, but at the expense of energy and cobblestone.

How many people actually use twilight forest's magic trees

Ah, those trees. I've never used them myself, partly because I've never really known about them. There isn't a lot of press on the matter, so often times the updates to twilight forest are completely unknown to me. Now I want to try one, but I can't find any of those leaf dungeons...

Rotarycraft - the mindblower and builds

My info source is the main thread for Rotarycraft on the forum. I maintain my own mod list, so I'm always going over updates and changes that Reika puts in the mod.

Thaumcraft 4 getting started questions: How to get golems?

To get into golemancy, there are two thins you need to do: Step #1: Discover the Hungry Chest Step #2: Discover and Research Spiritus As far as the specifics on doing that, there is a handy cheat sheet for this information here...

Rotarycraft - the mindblower and builds

The AC engines react to changes in the magnetic field. That is a fancy way of saying that if you have a shaft core on you and you are walking around, the AC engine will randomly get power. It's a strange feature, but not really a bug.

    Cleaner Thaumcraft Alchemy

I'd go with the phials myself. For the purple goo, my experience has been to try and avoid making it.

Isn't an MFR tree farm really just a solar panel?

I think there are many facets of power that aren't being talked about. We've already covered that ultimately, all power is free. But there are many other things that should be discussed, and they are IMO far more important than how free they are. Particularly, how convenient and dominating...
