    Did you follow the manual's instructions exactly?And also it's not light levels needed for shrooms its mycelium which you have various ways to obtain. One way is a forestry moistener, that's what I'm planning to craft. You might need to craft something to power it too though...

    I'm pretty sure regular tools are disabled from breaking blocks in this pack. You still craft them, but they won't function. It's a option in the Tinker config, I believe.

    Also is you just need the saplings for wood ash, go with rowan saplings. I plant them 4x4 and bonemeal them. That nets me 12-20 saplings, but until you get the horn of the canopy you have be vigilant about picking them all up.

    Yeah I think each plant has its own individual mutation rate so sometimes it pays to try to buff up your crops. I think the strength stat is related to mutation/spreading.

    Just a tip when I hit a dead end in I look at all the other available quests to see if there's and easier way.     What are you using to generate mana? Dayblooms and Nightshade generate a microfraction of mana per tick. You should get another flower from a quest and there's a lot you can make in the Botania manual. Don't be afraid to read it.

    You're better off just ignoring the ore quest until you progress in botania, there's a much easier way to get clay, also you need to start getting magical flowers in agricraft. You can bonemeal them to until you have enough for repeating the quest as much as necessary.
