Are you asking if soulshards will work as long as they are chunk loaded? If so, then yes they will.

Is the pump placed directly above the lava level? It will not work if it is more than one block above the lava level. I am just throwing out ideas now.

I am not 100% but I don't think you can hide your icon from others. However, others can turn their player icons off and not see you.

How large is the area of stone around the pump now? Could it be that shutting it off reset the loaded chunks and now it cannot find lava to pump? Have you tried move the pump to a new location?

I am pretty sure the version of Dartcraft used in Unleashed 1.1.4 does not require this. The DC forum post is for v.0.2.06(or7) and the Unleashed 1.1.4 pack is using DC 0.1.20.

My problem is not with difficultly level but with the speed in which I get to endgame content. I have conversations with people on my server all the time about how they don't know what do next... I made it a point to slow way down, not use quarries, try to focus on one mod at a time, not use...

Sure, but this way you can also get oak wood at the same time. Why not go for the two-in-one method if you actually use mushrooms?

I would say start with thermal expansion. In the Unleashed pack you can do pretty much everything with TE. However, you need IC2 for jetpacks and a compressor. Like TE machines, quarries also take MJ. Having a good MJ supply early one can help speed up the resource gathering.
