The only place forestry doesn't work is in Tekkit. You're free to install the mod on your own, or even better use the FTB mod pack which includes it

MCEdit does allow you to edit multiple dimensions, but you are correct it is not an in game tool like worldedit.

Hitting CTRL + SHIFT + ESC you can get into the processes explorer where you can kill java.exe. That at least is easier then logging out of Windows.

Thoughts about them naming the series Crakkit?

Some hosts setup 1 click servers, where you pick what server version and mod pack you would like to run and they set it up. I'm assuming that's what they'd need permissions for, to include FTB. however most hosts also give you ftp access where you can upload your own server.jar and mods.

There's a section on the forums for 3rd party mod packs. These packs will show up in the launcher. However you have to get permissions from the developers for every mod in your pack currently. Slowpoke is working on getting general permissions for 3rd party packs for the mods in the base ftb...
