I thought Buildcraft 3.4.3 was already in the Ultimate Pack so you shouldn't need to update. The newer version of BuildCraft (3.5.0) is for Minecraft 1.5 and therefore wouldn't work with Ultimate.

How much RAM does your PC have and how much are you allocating to FTB?

Are you able to copy your console log to Pastebin? Also if you get the server owner do the same for the server log at the time you try and join then we can take a look for you.

Your problem is the version of Optifine you are using. The DW20 pack is still on 1.4.7 so you need to download the Optifine version for this version of Minecraft.

When you say crashing, do you get any messages on the screen whilst trying to connect? Also could you post the console log as well, by clicking on send to pastebin on the console? And finally have you made any changes to the default Ultimate pack?

Well this is usually caused by item ids being too high. Specifically it looks like Bamboo from Tropicraft and the Surfboard in Weathermod. Can you check which item ids these are using? I believe the max is 32000 but I may be wrong, someone can correct me...

It should only be installed in the mods folder. Chances are that by installing it in Jar mods as well it has broken it. Your best bet is to start with a clean install of Mindcrack and then only add it to the mods folder. Also you say you tried both versions, but I can only find one for 1.4.7...

Probably putting the wrong version in broke everything else. I'd advise starting with a clean install of FTB and add the 1.4.7 version of Optifine.

I'm sure you realise this but as long as you get the 199 build, as the newer ones are for 1.5+
