    I think I've found a solution. If I make the cloud narrow at the bottom and more like a tornado shape it leaves plenty of area at the bottom around the spawner for the ghast to pop out.

    Vanilla style farms or you can use the Killer Joe for fully automatic. Yep I'm aware of this issue, it will be fixed in the next update. OK thanks, I'll make sure to fix that before the next release. What RehanOholic suggested is your easieest way to fix it so you can use the /HQM edit command.

    I think the reason I thought they didn't work was because of visual glitches. Does not surprise me at all they actually do, but I do enjoy watching the algae zip through the ducts.

    I'd have to guess that one of the materials you trying to use is something that it don't like. Also try break and replace the door factory.     Yes, fire resistance potions prevent all heat issues. No they don't spawn but there is a way to get them using a quest. The only hives that spawn in the world are rocky and water. Empowered Darksteel Pickaxe or the Resanant Exchanger

    I've noticed that the recent changes to world gen, namely the addition of the pigmen cities and villages has caused an issue with block lag and rubber banding while trying to explore new areas.     Sorry to hear that, maybe give it another try after the next update comes out, I plan to change the way the nether mobs spawn quite a bit by introducing nests that will spawn them rather than just spawning all the time everywhere.
