MultiMC worked for me after messing around with TheSandwichMakr's post. I had to recompile jar and it finally loaded the mods. I suggest trying that if ur itching to play.

Ok so read through those comments and the only thing that "helped" was uninstalled Java 7 and reinstalling Java 6 (newest release). Now Minecraft launches from the launcher! thanks!. However... No mods are installed or running when it does. Running vanilla 1.4.2 when u go ingame.

Its a 64 bit system. Its not windows NT 6.2 its windows 8 Release Preview ed. ( thinking of downgrading back to windows 7 though)Also im running Version 7 Update 9 of Java. thats the recommended build for windows 8 atm.
