    Why isn't Monster getting attention?

It's more like not knowing what items are valuable and need to be stored, and which ones are junk and can be ignored. And when there are LOTS of new mods, you end up filling your inventories really quickly with tiny amounts of inconsequential stuff. Or you toss it, and then find out a month down...

    Sorting & Ore Processing

The way to avoid that problem is to have an export bus set to "craft" the item you want, and point it to an ME-chest, ME-Interface or a chest with a storage bus on it. Then point a level emitter at the bus and it will trigger the craft; and since an AE system will only send enough items to...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

Interesting, I'm curious how the vanilla chest manages to suffer bad performance.

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

It's hard to come out up with totally "new" and original stuff while keeping true to the basic themes of IC2. Nor really does IC2 *need* that much new stuff. It was a good mod before, and still has some very good ideas. It's just a shame that a lot of the good ideas either haven't been updated...

Why don't people like IC2 anymore?

Truthfully? 1. Integrate Advanced Machines into IC2 base. The nice thing about the rotary macerator et.al. was that it played well with the basic IC2 principles of tiered machine design. It just seems weird to see the induction furnace available, but not see any of the other machines. Ideally...

    Hungry Nodes, how to recognize?

Ugh, hungry nodes. I built a nether portal that opened up right next to a hungry node. I died at least three times before I finally managed to get enough cobblestone around it to wall it off. Then I almost died again a few days later when I entered the nether portal and the cobblestone was...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

I don't believe this would cause any performance issues. Last I heard, Thermal Expansion strongboxes are no more or less performance intensive than a vanilla chest. Nor are the forestry apiaries/bee houses performance killers. All I'm envisioning is having both the strongboxes and the apiaries...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

And the same would happen in ANY minecraft game. If I play vanilla for a year, i'll eventually get a full set of Protection V enchanted diamond armor, and stacks upon stacks of every resource in the game. That's kinda inherent to how the game works. If you are wondering why people don't...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

I haven't looked at the code yet, but I imagine what we need is more data in the "something's happening" end that deals with security so that protection mods can make better decisions about whether to allow it or not. Or rather, to make a standard way for content mods to say "something's...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

I'm just thinking that we ought to have some sort of standardization of block protection mods so that they can 'talk' to each other and allow communication of security permissions from mod to mod. Nothing. Griefer's gonna grief, true. It's not intended as a complete solution to the problem of...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

Part of the library would have to be some method of creating security keys that each mod can set independently that would determine whether one mod's "protected" item can connect to another mod's "protected" item. Yes. That's rather the idea. To include some sort of standard way of having mod...

Counting items in barrels (Or before entering barrels)

You could so do it with AE. If you have a small AE system that's only linked to your barrel, with a storage bus on the barrel, you could then use a storage monitor to show how many stacks you have in the system, which would be definition show how many stacks you have in the barrel.

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

I was thinking something real simple. Just "protected" or "public". Then if you want to keep stuff protected, you only use storage and item transportation that is set to "protected", and you'll know that anything set to "public" won't be safe. And items from any mod that doesn't use that library...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

Any mod that has storage should at least consider integrating block protection. Right now, we have to rely on server-side plugins for protection if we want it, and because block protection isn't built in, we end often having the plugins fail to work as advertised because of some unforeseen...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

I think I said this earlier. The only difference is that you define as "end game" most people playing and creating the mods actually see as the beginning of the fun portion. I promise you that if you start thinking of it that way, and considering what you can do once you get to that "end game"...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

If there are a set of mods in a pack, and some mods decide to nerf themselves, you can't call the rest of the mods staying the same "Power Creep." That's actually the direct opposite of power creep. The point here is that people were comfortable the level of power from the mods in 1.4. It fit...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

This. The problem is not that the Steve's Carts carts cost more now. A couple extra diamonds for a machine that already costs a few diamonds isn't that big a deal. The problem is that they are now impossible to automate so you end up having to come back days or weeks after you've already moved...

Is Ore processing and sorting disappearing?

Remember when Steve's Carts Tree farms weren't crap? When they not only didn't require maintenance but ALSO didn't require power at all? Yeah, that got nerfed to the point where nobody even bothers with SC anymore unless as a novelty build. And even without SC, compare the MFR setup to an...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

I know. I've given up hope of ever seeing numbers that big out of Thermal Expansion ever since King Lemming put the 1000MJ/t limit on conduit connections. I will have to check to see if tesseracts still have a limit on transmitted power per face, but I suspect they do as well. But even with...

Why do people like Thermal Expansion so much?

I would also like higher tiers of dynamos. Mostly so that I can streamline my base better. I'd prefer to have 20 machines producing 160RF/t rather than 40 producing 80RF/t. The space savings would mean I can have more space to expend on aesthetic touches and also be able to fit it all within a...
