    1.8

Even if your mod is 'just cubes' the new model system is a problem. If your block has multiple 'states', each one needs a JSON file. Even if you're just changing the texture, which is an incredibly basic feature. Stuff like pipes and cables, which often have 2^6 'states' will need 64 files per...

    Overated/Problematic/Misused Mods

All mods are overrated. Did you know that without mods, 100% of cross-mod exploits wouldn't exist? Mods are destroying modded Minecraft! For serious though Thaumcraft is getting there. It's a victim of complexity creep where each addition makes things not more difficult to do, but more...

"[STDOUT] You have some mods with DRM, you must remove these to continue"

It's still hilarious how this person's solution to DRM is more DRM. It's like trying to reverse climate change by burning more rainforests down.

    Opinions on Microsoft buying Mojang

I hate to break it too you, but I hear the majority of games companies are not interested in you playing their games without a fee. Usually it's a one time fee, as part of a purchase.

How do you feel about AE2?

Meteor spawns are random, and the plates you get from the meteors are random. Now, I don't have a doctorate in randomness, but that seems pretty random to me. And since you need all 4 plates to produce all the components you need for a full system, you're locked out until you get all four. Oh...

How do you feel about AE2?

'Crafting' times for pure crystals could do with being not dumb. There is literally no reason for it to take several hours other than pointless padding. In world crafting in general seems to be a cute gimmick that is just kind of... there. Press hunting is bad. How exactly the idea of locking...

Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

hey kids landover baptist is a parody. Also it occurs to me that many of you people: a) know some really dumb idiots. i mean how do you find these people b) are kind of elitist jerks. I don't talk down to people for not knowing integrals, let alone minecraft modding

Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

(warning this post contains dangerous amounts of meta!) Well one time people were being elitist about game mods but I don't remember when. No wait, I do! It's this very thread! Other communities would condemn this! There was also some crazy mod author who removed all the cool features from...

"[STDOUT] You have some mods with DRM, you must remove these to continue"

It's funny because a mod that throws a hissy fit because DRM and refuses to load contains DRM itself. Which means it can't be used with itself. Once again, DRM is dumb.

Move those goal posts like a pro! But it's going to be the same basic solution no matter how you flavour it. You're just using the digitizer or arcane altar or spudinator instead of the crafting bench.

    AE2 Discussion

Except because the process is still entirely random, it's possible for a certain type of press to be rarer than others, and since all four are required, it's a terrible idea to trade away you only copy of a press. Additionally, unless you dial up meteor generation to one per chunk, presses are...

    AE2 Discussion

Unfortunately, my time is not infinite, and neither is my patience. Once you have more than half of the presses, the chance of finding a new press will be lower than the chance of finding a duplicate. Obviously, you could solve this by being able to craft any two presses and some materials into...

Late game boredom: What does one do with fifteen full resonant energy cells?

It should be pretty obvious: eat them. I mean, how bad can they be for you? Alternately, build an statue of your favorite Pokemon out of precious materials harvested via laser drill.

    Trouble getting Oily Bees

There's a NEI addon that shows bee breeding 'recipies'. It even shows you the chance of mutation, and is unlikely to be wrong.

    Azanor presents Thaumcraft 4.1 Research

This update would be ++ just for being able to choose what you research. Working on things I want? In Thaumcraft? It's more likely than you think! Hexagon research is also good. No more wasting time on researching 11 variations of the same basic idea. But the best change is that the puzzles are...

Urgency?! The shady? future of modded minecraft

Because as much as some people would like to pretend it's the case, FTB isn't the end-all hub of modded Minecraft. Also: lol no. I mean you can maybe argue light drm is okay for actual commercial products, but for a free mod created via reverse engineering, drm is for the fools. Incidentally...

    Thaumcraft 4 research not completing

The problem with impossible research is that at no point are you told that research can be impossible. It's not a stretch to assume, given the 'guess the elements' nature of research that the puzzles presented will be actually possible. It would be fairly simple to ensure research is solvable...

As an independant Minecraft fan, this is what I feel ModJam needs.

Once upon a time a person tried to make a complex solution where a simple one would do. They died. If you want to eliminate identity bias, you must eliminate identity from the competition. There is no question about it. Luckily, this is fairly simple: Step 1: Modders submit their mods...

What exactly is offensive about being told to play in creative mode?

Because it's terrible arguementing. Also I made a post about this before so here's the main content part of it about 'oh man why not play creative' posts.

FTB and Forge - Curse Partnership.

We can totally blame Curse for not screening their ads to make sure they aren't malicious. It's also fun how you assume people who create malicious software are the kinds of people who wouldn't exploit every trick in the book, from fake download buttons to ads that simple bypass the clicking...
