I say it depends on what resources you manage to get, having gone through the early stage many times! I had one world that I found no gold - so I couldnt start thaumcraft at all! If you dont have what you need for clay - then its go out to look for it or you cant make molds for flaxbeards...

I can only eat one piece of food before its food value drops so its not worth eating, its hard to get enough variety, maybe if I was having better luck fishing it would be easier, oh well theres always bait :P The new food mod should help too, Im looking forward to trying it out :)
