if you refuse to use botania, you won't be able to do magic at all, nor get to draconic evolution, magic mods are very entwined together in expert. Extra Utilities is largely optional, only really things that might be needed are bedrockium (which is made differently) and the Q.E.D.

That is strange, it's the only part I can think of that might be causing issue, excepting the subnetwork or P2P networking, as each sub (or pure P2P) network has it's own security settings which are not transfered.

My first thought is Thaumcraft's Eerie biome, although it's grass is black rather than gray, so might not be completely fitting. Spreaders work, but are terribly inefficient for this, they move mana really slowly, considering you need half a pool per terrasteel... sparks are a much better alternative. They don't need augments for terrasteel making either, they are simply for moving mana between manapools.

A more magical (although arguably harder to get) alternative is the Eye of the Flugal from Botania which is essentially is bindable to a spot (or 12 in earlier iterations) and then allowing teleportation to that spot. This does not work cross dimension though.

This is most likely a result of a visual waila glitch. Most vanilla saplings can show as oak in the tooltip after a bonemeal application.
