Why would they not? I didn't think there was such cutthroat competition that participants would steal ideas from their competitors. I guess it depends what the prizes are, but with so many possibilities for pack ideas, I don't really see it being an issue.

Try cheating in a dialer, transmitter, and power source. Then try dialing back to the ship/wherever you want to go. If "Invalid Destination" comes up on the dialer, I believe that means your dimension is corrupt.

I think a lot of the infusion recipes changed. check them in NEI. It's been awhile since I did anything with botania in this pack. But I remember a few of them changing.

If you just want brass ingots you can craft them with 3 copper ingots and 1 zinc in the crafting window. Check NEI for brass it's on the second or third page.

Welp I upped it to 6gb and still crash. I kept it at 6gb and added 256m permgen in the java arguments and it seems to load fine. I'll let you know if I have any issues with it.

I am also getting a crash just after making a dimension and loading into it. Unfortunately I've restarted 3 times and crashes on world load everytime. Looks to be the same crash.

I've tried exiting the map, restarting a few times, and same thing. Edit: Ah nevermind, I restarted while I was in the dimension and it loaded.
