Dosen't blood and bones use the vanilla config of TiC tweak? With the quest system, I personnaly think the tiered progression will be less popular. It made the people want something, that ultimate pickaxe to mine everything. Now the books tells you: this is what you want, this is the goal! So...

Early game? Lumber axe needs 4 block of metal and a trip to the city :p Thats more like mid game :p And you can do it with spruce too
