I can answer a few of your questions. You don't have to go through the portal. The point of going through is to kill the boss and get the particle glove. The boss health bar is for the boss... The boss spawns and currently gets stuck in the pyramid where it suffocates. I'm not sure what the...- superckl

It looks like bnbTweaks is Eyamaz's doing. It seems like it nerfs ores in the smeltery to only provide one ingot (by injecting some bytecode or something... I can't really make much sense of it). EDIT: It patches Metallurgy's recipe handler. In what way, I'm not sure.- superckl

You need to use the wood and lava trick. Place wood next to the portal and lava next to that. Eventually the wood will catch on fire and light the portal. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing it.- superckl
