Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

No offense, but a firm stance like that will have practically no pack run with your mods, as good as they may be. You're basically trying to strongarm all modpack makers and server admins to always run the newest version period, even when they have valid reasons *not* to. So instead of putting...

Random thought. Does it matter if the farming is behind a GUI or in-world if the net effort of each is roughly equivalent? I mean if we compare these new devices to a MFR planter/harvester setup then this is far more complex and resource-intensive. Even compared to Forestry or RotaryCraft...

Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

As a server admin, something I do *professionally* as well, it's highly unprofessional to expect your users to have to do things like that. I provide the server and I provide a link to the current version of the modpack, which I *also* maintain. I don't want to make it my users duty to update...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

More Thermal Dynamics pics! Tema is really testing this out. Does that mean that it's coming out soon? *crosses fingers*

Unless the server is running that version, then updating the mod will break their ability to connect to the server. And by saying that you kinda confirmed Tome's statements, and mine, on you not comprehending the situation for server owners.

They chose to shut it down *after* they resolved the problem by removing the offending store. As to why they shut it down, I won't dare to speculate. But the thing is that Fireball and the mod makers were in the right. Serendipity *was* openly breaking the EULA. Now you may think that Mojang...

No. The version of the modpack I push to users has will be set to not show once the modpack is closer to being finalized. The version *I* will run won't have had them turned off in the first place. Not that that matters, as I tend to notice the updates though the forums here before seeing the...

Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

Simple. The modpack maker or server administrator turns the reminders back on for themselves so they still know. You posit laziness on the part of modpack makers just because they don't jump when you update? Sorry, but modpacks often contain upwards of 100 mods. My own has about 80. If we...

Of course they do. But they have no solid ground to stand on. They can be freely ignored.

Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

Well then those users lose their right to complain, now don't they? It's still something that the end user of an actively updated modpack doesn't *need* to know. They're not playing just your mod. They're playing the modpack. That's information for the modpack maintainer. Exactly. And if...

Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

Then there's still the reality of if that particular bug/exploit is affecting the modpack or server in question. Not all are fixing world corruption level issues, after all. There's also the reality of how long it takes to properly test a mod against the rest of a modpack and get it available...

Really stupid things that people have said about Modded MC(Off topicness makes moderators tired)

If you truly believe that the majority that don't want to update don't have a good reason to, then I don't think you understood anything most people were saying in that thread. I'd not hesitate to say that a majority that dislike it play modpacks and/or play on servers and don't want to be...

What's new in modded minecraft today?

Actually it *is* light. The only question is does it require sunlight only, or will artificial light sources suffice.

What's new in modded minecraft today?

Thermal Expansion preview! New Machine? What does *this* do? Micro farm in a block? But what's that Phyto-Gro stuff? Oh. That's not too bad. Just some slag, niter, and charcoal dust or sawdust. More pics here! Thanks to /u/DarkLight66 for posting alla them.

    On mods and updates

I've seen this bandied about in various forms here and there and I wanted to get some feedback and opinion from a place a bit more conducive to constructive conversation than Reddit. While I have my own thoughts on the matter, I'm curious what the thoughts of all you others, devs, modpack...

    Recent Events Discussion (RED) Thread

From what I understand, the rendering changes in 1.8 aren't due to Minecraft itself, but due to Lex deciding to ignore all modders and force people to use the new system by removing the old rendering hooks. Are those changes not going to be moved forward with newer versions of Forge?

Nah. Some are trying to embrace 1.8. Crazies.
