    Regarding Private Modpacks

Actually, Munaus, it's not a bad question. It works the same either way, but now that Technic lets you do it, it's suddenly "teh evils".

    Regarding Private Modpacks

BTW, Watchful11, honestly, Technic's method of doing it was on par with how most people did it previously. A link to a MultiMC instance, distributed to the users. Why is it suddenly bad when done through a launcher that's not MultiMC? (And remember, private packs don't need permission any more...

    About the Custom Packs! :)

I'm done with you. Done. You seem to be as firmly entrenched as I am. However, in any other community we wouldn't have had this argument. Only here in Minecraft.

    Is energy from lava appropriate?

Yeah, honestly, lava's not OP, it's just exploited more commonly. Charcoal's another common example. Heck, SoulShards and blaze spawners could be considered OP, (they're what I'll be using for power though)

    Is energy from lava appropriate?

Meh... Lava in and of itself is a great power source. Lava form the Nether via Ender Chests or Mystcraft, though, is fine, but lacks creativity. Personally, creativity is what Minecraft's about. So, other people can do the whole Nether lava thing, but I'll use different Nether power. (I'll be...

    About the Custom Packs! :)

Wow. No, entitlement isn't the issue here, they've put it out there. They don't want it distributed? They shouldn't have put it out there. Second, they are being petty about redistribution. In any other community, it's not a big deal. The modders are happy with credit and the occasional...

    About the Custom Packs! :)

    1. I had a nice project table mod, (my first Java experience by the way, I'm usually a C# programmer) in a week. It was cool, it had my little flair. 2. Eloraam hasn't got much free time either. Last time I heard, she was pulling 70-hour work weeks. 3. I can't speak for all of them, but I put...

    Regarding Private Modpacks

And what, might I ask, is wrong with Technic's Custom Zip feature? :)

    Technic Team releases Tekkit Lite

You've got to remember, the Technic community is, and largely always will be, children. Just like the minecraft community at large.

    About the Custom Packs! :)

Where they are right now. There won't be any progress. Except, oh wait, sure there will. You see, there are a lot of people who aren't that petty, and are perfectly willing to make mods. There are plenty of good, open source mods. And that number will keep growing. Some modders leave because of...

    Technic Team releases Tekkit Lite

Honestly, my view on the matter is that if you want control of something, releasing it into the public for free isn't how you do it. Once you do that, you have no control. If people really wanted full control over their mods, they should have either charged for them or not released them. And...

    About the Custom Packs! :)

You know what? I'm going to leave your argument be. It's fine. You can be as stuck-in-the-mud about permissions as you want. As I said before, Technic was unique. There were no public alternatives, people took what they could get. And, as per the principle of pragmatism/human nature, if...

    EE3 is already broken!

I'd argue that it's fine to use them together, but it's your responsibility to be responsible, and not use cross-mod exploits.

    Technic Team releases Tekkit Lite

Basically, it works out like this. Technic is foolhardy, and not afraid to take risks. This results in innovation, and cool new features and such, but cutting edge usually means someone gets cut. FTB is cautious, and avoids anything that could cause controversy. This results in a more...

    About the Custom Packs! :)

honestly, the optifine creator shouldn't be so asinine about modpacks in the first place. But, sure. You could do that. But why would anyone use it? It's easy to just drop Optifine in the jarmods section.

    Technic Team releases Tekkit Lite

Not sure if there is or not. Treecap won't cause any conflict though, although remember, it's a coremod, not a regular mod. :)

    Technic Team releases Tekkit Lite

indeed it is, my friend. I believe Thaumcraft has the Axe of the Stream, not sure if it actually has it yet or not. But it's a very nice tool.

    About the Custom Packs! :)

Well, that's the gist of it, you see? Slowpoke assumes it'll be easy to acquire these permissions, because for him it would be. He's friends with the modders. He knows them, and they'd tell him "Of course you can, man!" Me? I mean, I'm an ordinary dude. They don't know me, nor do they really...
