I usually just set it up on an energy cell and have the cell on a switch. Just turn it on when you need it.

Chose other, since I've done all but the sky base. I like underground the most except for the issue with getting out quickly. Elevators are an option but I usually just settle for some ladders until I move above ground.

Guess what, I opened my laptop that I rarely use and found this config. MoCreatures config Last time I used this it worked for me without having a ton of angry zombie issues.

I'd post in the support thread. That said, you could try a fresh install and move your save files over. Failing that, maybe make a save in NEI of your items and then rename or delete your player.dat file.
